GOZO SELECTION TO MAKE

VIVA WORLD CUP DEBUT ON MONDAY

The selection from the Gozo Football Association is making its debut in the VIVA World Cup 2009 on Monday June 22. The NF Board is organizing this edition of the VIVA World Cup together with the FA of Padania of Italy. Six teams are participating in this edition, forming two groups of three teams each.

The Gozitan Selection has been drawn in Group 2. The first match of the tournament for the Gozitans will be against Provience of France. The match will take place at Stadio Piola of Novara and the kick-off is scheduled for 5:00pm. The second match from the group stage will take place two days later, on Wednesday, against the Scandinavians of Samiland. The match is also scheduled for 5:00pm but the venue will be Stadio Rigamonti of Brescia. The three teams from Group 1 are Occitania, Kurdistan and Padania.

The two semi-finals of the tournament are scheduled for Thursday June 25. The two matches will be contested between the first two teams on the final table of the two groups. The matches will take place at Stadio Franco Ossola of Varese. The matches to determine the fifth and sixth place; and the third and fourth place will be played on Friday at the stadium of Brescia. The final of the tournament will be contested on Saturday June 27 at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi of Verona.

The Gozitan selection will be wearing a full kit provided by Sportika for this competition. Mr. Mario Camilleri, recognised agent of Sportika, recently presented the full kit for the VIVA World Cup 2009 to Mr. Alvin GFA President, Mr. Joe Bajada General Secretary of the GFA and Dr. Joseph Grech LL.D. Chairman of the VIVA World Cup 2010 that will take place in Gozo.
