Gozo F.C. appoints
Dr. Joseph Grech
as the new
president

Dr. Joseph Grech
Dr. Joseph Grech has been appointed by the Gozo Football
Association as the new president for Gozo FC. The change in the leadership
took place following an Extraordinary General Meeting held as a result to
the resignation en bloc of the previous committee. The Extraordinary
General Meeting unanimously approved that the officials of the Gozo FC
should be nominated by an Administrative Board of the GFA and appointed as
members of the Gozo FC during the Annual General Meeting.
Dr. Joseph Grech is synonymous with sports in Gozo. He
played waterpolo and is currently forming part of the administration of the
GFA. Dr. Grech is the legal advisor of the association and chairman of the
Organising Committee for the VIVA World Cup 2010 which will be held in Gozo.
Through the change in the administration the Gozo FC has
become an integral p[art of the GFA. Currently the team is placed fourth on
the table of the MFA BOV Division II campaign. The Gozo FC is also
responsible of the Women's team, which is dominating and leading the MFA
Division II league, just one point from winning mathematically the
championship. The Gozo FC also is responsible for the Youth teams. The U/17
squad is currently at the top of the table of Section C 1 with 39 points
from 15 matches, while the U/15 team is placed third in Section B with 33
points from 15 matches, four points less than leaders Pembroke Athleta.
Representatives of all these teams and from the GFA are forming the new
committee of the Gozo FC.
The new committee is
formed of Mr. Alvin Grech as the club patron, Dr. Joseph Grech president,
Mr. Charlie Calleja vice-president, Mr. Joe Camilleri secretary and Ms.
Yvonne Camilleri assistant secretary. Mr. George Cini is the treasurer and
Ms. Bibiana Sultana the assistant treasurer. The committee members are Mr.
Joe Bajada, Charles Balucci, Joe Portelli, Alex Spiteri, Saviour Bajada and
David Mizzi. |
