CYF COURSE FOR
GOZITAN COACHES
The Gozo Football
Association in collaboration with the Malta Football Association
organised a basic course for the coaches operating mainly in the
Youth sector. The CYF course is an important certificate for the
coaches which give them the basic knowledge to handle young children
at tender ages.
The course was
led by Mr. Stephen Grima, together with National coach Mr. John
Buttigieg and his assistant Mr. Carmel Busutill. Twelve sessions
were held at the GFA headquarters and the Gozo Stadium during the
weekend between the 21st and 23rd August for
all the Gozitan participants, who practically represented every
Gozitan Youth Nursery.
The GFA President
Mr. Alvin Grech greeted Mr. Grima and the National coaches and
thanked them for accepting the invitation to organise the CYF course
in Gozo. The president also wished that the participants make good
use of this opportunity to obtain the basic certificate for
coaching.
Mr. Joe Bajada,
the GFA general secretary, stated that the association is working
hard to continue the development of the game in Gozo. He said that
particular effort is being put to support the coaching sector aiming
to have a good number of qualified coaches on the island.
The general
secretary reminded that the association is aiming to introduce rigid
regulations in the near future and no team will be eligible to
participate in the local competition without a qualified coach. Mr.
Bajada also wished success to all the participants and took the
opportunity to express best wishes to Mr. John Buttigieg and Mr.
Carmel Busutill for their recent appointment as National coach and
assistant repectively. |
