SPRITE 2ND DIVISION LEAGUE

TRIPLE WIN FOR ST.LAWRENCE SPURS

ST.LAWRENCE SPURS FC ......    44' A.CONCALVES, 55' J.MICALLEF

  MUNXAR FALCONS FC ......

St Lawrence Spurs recovered from the defeat conceded in their previous match and obtained three points from a victory over Munxar Falcons.

This was St Lawrence's third victory over the Falcons in the campaign. It was a deserved win for the Spurs. They dominated the match and obtained the victory with the least possible effort.

Play was quite balanced in the early stages. Munxar were well deployed although they had veteran midfielder Chris Debrincat missing due to suspension. However, the Spurs gained some supremacy as time passed by.

In the 20th minute an effort by Joshua Cassar following a pass by Paul Attard ended just over the crossbar. Later, an effort by Jesmond Xerri just missed the target.

St Lawrence opened the score in the 44th minute through a tap-in by Aldalberto Goncalves following an inviting cross by Paul Attard.

Munxar failed to produce a reaction after the break and St Lawrence continued to dictate matters. The Spurs doubled the score in the 55th minute through a header by Jonathan Micallef following a free kick by Jesmond Xerri.

The Spurs reduced their pressure and Munxar took advantage to try and re-open the issue.

The Falcons had their best opportunity to reduce the arrears in the 65th minute with a good shot by Takam Bouduain that was saved with difficulty by goalie Samuel Micallef.

St Lawrence managed to control Munxar's reaction with authority and goalie Micallef was not called to make other difficult interventions.

In the 80th minute St Lawrence could have sealed the issue with another goal but an attempt by Adalberto Goncalves was saved in corner with difficulty by substitute goalkeeper Daniel Curmi.
