Leaders St Lawrence Spurs were held to a goalless draw by Oratory Youths in an interesting encounter where the final score remained uncertain until the final whistle.  In this match the Spurs failed to take advantage of Xaghra’s unexpected result so that the situation on the table remained unchanged at the beginning of the fourteenth day of the campaign.  The final result was just as Oratory did not have any inferiority complex in facing a more quoted opponent and controlled play so that they kept danger away from their area for long stretches.  St Lawrence had striker Shaun Muscat missing due to suspension while Oratory had Dione Lautier, Giovan Grech and George Frank Mizzi missing for different reasons.

Oratory’s intention to produce a prudent match was evident from the intial stages.  The Saints therefore found it difficult to penetrate while the Youths operate some good breaks.  On 9 minutes the Spurs were dangerous through Paul Anthony Attard who was released by Jonathan Micallef but the former concluded wide form a good position.  The Youths replied on 16 minutes through a long ranged strike by Andrew Zammit that ended inches wide.  On 25 minutes Oratory’s goalie Franklin Vella was well placed to neutralize a header by Christopher Cauchi from a free kick by Laurant Pisani.  Three minutes from half time the same goalkeeper made a good intervention following a header by Jonathan Micallef from a cross by Gothard Conti. The Youths seemed more determined after the resumption and kept St Lawrence’s rearguard on the alert.  On 55 minutes a long ranged strike by George Caruana was well blocked by goalie Samuel Micallef.  The Spurs increase their efforts as time passed by but they still found it difficult to test keeper Vella.  On 72 minute they were unlucky when a long ranged strike by Renzo Formosa hit the crossbar with the goalkeeper beaten.  The same Formosa had a good effort four minutes later that was well saved by goalie Vella.  In the 90th minute Oratory’s goalkeeper Franklin Vella saved the point for his side when he tipped in corner with difficulty a header by Christopher Cauchi following a cross by Daniel Micallef.
