WANDERERS START 3RD ROUND ON A GOOD NOTE

     SK Victoria Wanderers registered a handsome victory and obtained three points as expected from their match against Gharb Rangers. This was another easy victory for the citizens as they did in the previous two matches of the campaign.

     In this match Gharb resisted for the first half but were dominated after the break.

      The Wanderers took command of play from the very beginning. In the 1^st minute a header by Ige Adesina from a free kick by Simon Gatt hit the crossbar. In the 10^th minute Mark Buttigieg concluded badly from an ideal position.

     Three minutes later Gharb’s goalie Matthew Vella was called to make a difficult save following a free kick by Ige Adesina. Victoria opened the score in the 25^th minute through a close ranged header by Ajibade Adesina following a cross by Laran Dimech.

     The Wanderers kept insisting and minutes later Gharb’s goalie distinguished himself with another intervention to stop an attempt by Ajibade Adesina.

      In the 55th minute Victoria doubled the score. A shot by Ige Adesina was partially saved by goalie Matthew Vella and from the rebound Lauran Dimech placed into an open goal.

        Two minutes later Chris Sciortino increased the lead with a fine strike from the edge of the area following a cross from the right by Laran Dimech.

        Gharb were now demoralised and in the 61st minute the referee awarded a penalty Victoria for hands by Michael Chika. Ige Adesina converted from the spot kick and made the score 4-0.

        The same Adesina increased the score in the 74th minute by concluding behind goalie Matthew Vella following a good move by Mark Buttigieg. Gharb ended the match on a bad note. In the 84th minute they had Roy Vella sent off for retaliation following a foul on Ige Adesina.
