Handsome win with three goals in each half

      SK Victoria Wanderers inflicted a heavy defeat on Zebbug Rovers and with the three points obtained they reach contenders for promotion St Lawrence Spurs and Xewkija Tigers. The citizens dominated the match and kept continuous pressure, scoring on three occasions in each half, four of which through Ajibade Adesina and Ige Adesina. With this victory Victoria recovered from the unexpected defeat that they suffered in their previous match against Oratory Youths.

 

     Victoria came out very aggressive and took 17 minutes to open the score. Ige Adesina unmarked Chris Sciortino who entered the area and placed behind goalie Pace with a fine strike.  In the following minutes Victoria were dangerous with efforts by Joseph Refalo and Joseph Vella, while Zebbug’s Basil Chibueze had a good effort well saved by goalie Marlon Mercieca. In the 36th minute the Wanderers were awarded a penalty for a foul by Joe Hili on Ige Adesina, and Ajibade Adesina doubled the score with his shot from the spot kick. Minutes later Victoria’s Frank Buttigieg cleared off the line an effort by Franco Magrin with the goalkeeper beaten. The score became 3-0 in the 45th minute through a strike by Ige Adesina from outside the area.

 

     After the break the Wanderers kept insisting and went close to scoring through attempts by Joseph Vella and Ajibade Adesina. The score became 4-0 in the 61st minute through a low shot by Joseph Refalo following a pass by Ige Adesina. In the 70th Ige Adesina increased the lead with a low shot following a solo effort. Ajibade Adesina made the final score 6-0 in the 81st minute when he entered the area, dribbled the goalkeeper and placed into an open goal.
