  Munxar Falcons registered their seventh win in the championship in their match against Gharb Rangers.  The Falcons dominated the match and the three points were practically never in contention.  Munxar opened a two-goal lead by the end of the first half and scored a third goal in the early stages of the second period to make sure of the victory.  With the points obtained the Falcons ended the second round of the campaign at the third spot on the table.  Gharb tried to resist Munxar’s superiority but they only managed to keep a respectable score.

  The Falcons took command of play from the early stages and opened the score on 12 minutes through a header by Christian Micallef following a cross by Joseph Mizzi.  Gharb failed to produce a reaction and Munxar maintained their pressure on their opponents.  On the half hour of play goalie John Scerri saved with difficulty in corner an effort by Christian Micallef.  Five minutes later Gharb’s Clayton Hili won a tussle at Munxar’s rearguard but his attempt was neutralized by goalie Daniel Curmi.  Munxar doubled the score on 39 minutes.  Once again it was Christian Micallef who entered the area in a solo effort and netted with a low angled shot.

  Gharb had a good start in the second period and could have reduced the score in the 48th minute but an attempt by Helios Grech was well saved by goalie Daniel Curmi.  In the 51st minute Munxar’s Mario Azzopardi conclude wide an inviting pass by Joseph Mizzi.  However, the same Azzopardi made up for the mistake one minute later when he netted with a low shot another pass by Mizzi to make the score 3-0.  Gharb were reduced to ten players on 56 minutes when goalie John Scerri was red carded for a foul outside the area on Joseph Mizzi.

  From the resultant free kick Jospeh Mizzi’s attempt ended wide.  Gharb went closest to score a consolation goal three minutes from time but Clayton Hili’s shot was turned in corner by goalie Daniel Curmi.  In the first minute of stoppage time Munxar sealed the issue with a goal by Daniel Pace who concluded a pass by Mario Azzopardi.
