Kercem Ajax obtained their first win in the championship in their match against SK Victoria Wanderers.  The victory matured with a goal scored near the half hour of play and managed to defend it until the final whistle.  The three points obtained is undoubtedly a great boost to the Ajax as it arrives after two consecutive defeats at the start of the campaign.  The Wanderers were expected to produce a better performance when considering that they registered two consecutive victories in their previous matches.  However, they suffered a soft goal and were erratic in their efforts to recover the deficit.

Kercem created the first serious scoring opportunity of the match.  In the 15th minute Marlon Mamo released Marcos Aurelio Ribeiro in Victoria’s area but goalie Adrian Parnis recovered and blocked the danger.  The citizens replied in the following action through an effort by Manuel Cordina who saw his low shot following a personal action saved in two attempts by goalie Courtney Mercieca.  The same Cordina could have opened the score on 20 minutes but he shot incredibly over the crossbar from close distance an inviting pass by Ige Adesina.  Kercem’s goalkeeper was again called to make a good save four minutes later to turn in corner an effort by Ige Adesina.  Kercem opened the score in the 27th minute through a direct corner kick by Milos Stojanovic that surprised the goalkeeper who only managed to deflect the ball but not from preventing it to enter the goal.  Kercem gained confidence and in the 32nd minute they were dangerous through a shot by Marcos Aurelio Ribeiro that ended high.

The Wanderers came out aggressive after the break and after only 40 seconds of play goalie Mercieca saved with the aid of the crossbar an effort by Joseph Refalo.  In the 49th minute goalie Mercieca was called to make a good save following a lob by Mark Buttigieg.  Minutes later the same Buttigieg concluded wide a corner kick by substitute Joseph Vella.

On 63 minutes Victoria’s Ajibade Adesina had a low shot saved by goalie Mercieca and one minute later a goal by Ige Adesina was disallowed for an offside infringement.  In the 71st minute goalie Mercieca saved a good effort by Joseph Vella and one minute later a corner kick by the same Vella hit the crossbar.  In the 74th minute Ige Adesina came face to face with the goalkeeper but concluded badly from an ideal position.  On 80 minute Joseph Vella had a low shot after receiving from Ajibade Adesina that ended just wide.  In the dying moments Kercem continued to control their one goal lead to take home their first win in the campaign.
